Unwilt

Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 September 2026

Unwilt looks at photographs of plants and tells you what is probably wrong. This page explains what that involves for your data. It is written to be read once, in full, without a lawyer.

There is no account

You do not sign up, and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number. When you first open the app it generates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. That identifier is how our server recognises the same phone across requests, and it is not derived from anything about you or your hardware. Deleting the app deletes it.

Photographs

Photographs you take or choose are uploaded so they can be looked at. Before any photograph leaves your phone it is re-encoded, which removes the metadata block — including the GPS coordinates a phone camera normally records. We never receive the location a photograph was taken.

Uploaded originals are deleted automatically after 90 days. The copies your timeline shows stay on your device until you delete them. To do the diagnosis, photographs are sent to Anthropic's API, which processes them to produce the answer and does not use them to train models.

Photographs are never used for advertising, never shared with advertising or analytics platforms, and never linked to an identity, because there is not one.

What else we collect

We do not collect contact information, contacts, health data, precise location, or anything that identifies you personally.

Who processes it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law.

Getting your data back, or deleting it

Both are in the app, under You → Your data, and neither requires you to contact us. Export returns everything held for your device as a file. Delete removes the rows and the photographs — on the device and on our servers — and cannot be undone. If the server cannot be reached, the app says so rather than claiming the uploaded copies are gone.

Children

Unwilt is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, not only by editing this page.
